A month of May dedicated to fiber art and sustainability with “M(A)Y FIBER – Art and textile paths between tradition and sustainability”, a widespread event scheduled from Saturday 4 May to Sunday 2 June, promoted by the Administration municipal in collaboration with the Arte & Arte association and the Pistoletto Cittadellarte Foundation and the support of numerous sponsors and technical partners.
The exhibition will delve into the theme of textiles, an economic sector that has always been in the city’s DNA, in its multiple relationships with art, technique and environmental sustainability through various proposals:
– the fifth edition of MINIARTEXTIL 2024, which will bring installations of textile art and small-sized works, minitextiles, to the twin rooms of the Textile Museum;
– two iconic works by the Biella master Michelangelo Pistoletto: the “Venus of rags” which will be exhibited at Palazzo Marliani Cicogna and the “Third Paradise” which will be exhibited in the square garden of the Textile Museum;
Created in 1967, the Venus, a work which has had several replicas, in the version set up in Busto Arsizio will be made with fabrics from local companies involved in the field of textile sustainability.
The Third Paradise, a work from 2003, derives from the symbol of infinity as a search for a new synthesis between nature and society, developed by the master with different materials and in different contexts, up to the creation of the Third Paradise in porcelain stoneware which reports the 17 objectives for the sustainable development of the 2030 agenda. Already exhibited at the UN, this version of the work will be in the city on the occasion of M(A)Y FIBER.
– “The secrets of Blue”, a technical exhibition on the color blue in the textile and dyeing sector: alongside samples, labels and vintage magazines, fabrics, yarns and dyeing tests, contemporary textile works will be presented, some specially created or reworked.
