The Momart Gallery in Matera presents the collective exhibition Habitat

The Momart Gallery in Matera presents the collective exhibition Habitat, which begins a series of exhibition events and artistic residencies scheduled until January 2025.

Transformation, double, body, home, ancestral, landscape and mimesis, water and slow time are the themes that have inspired the artists carefully selected by Carlo Gallerati founder and artistic director of Gallerati Gallery in Romeand by the artistic director of Momart Gallery Monica Palumbo for the “Habitat” exhibition which will be inaugurated on April 24th in Matera, in the exhibition spaces of Piazza Madonna dell’Idris, in Sasso Caveoso.

Themes that outline materially opposite scenarios, juxtaposed according to a narrative line in which every hatching, every brushstroke, every shape shaped by the artists, tells its own vision of space, landscape, habitat. As the curator Simona Spinella writes: “The elements that meet, intersect and cohabit in the different environments located in natural niches and recesses are: places, landscapes, houses, nature, bodies, matter, fabrics, moods. All changes that unfold along the exhibition itinerary and generate small sets of intersections.”

Nineteen artists involved, Gaia Adducchio, AnnaMaria Angelucci, Alessandro Antonucci, Rossella Barbante, Lucilla Candeloro, Luca Centola, Francesca De Rubeis, Daniela Di Maro. Ivana Galli, Federica Luciani, Letizia Marabottini, Paola Marzano, Vincenzo Monticelli Cuggiò, Consuelo Mura, Angela Maria Piga, Federica Rugnone, Maria Semmer, Antonio Teora and Alberto Timossi who will present their works in a highly evocative exhibition itinerary, the Momart Gallery, in which the contemporaneity of the works merges with the antiquity of the stone, in a play of full and empty spaces and chromatic contrasts in scenarios with a unique style.

The exhibition is curated by the art historian Simona Spinellapresident of the Cultural Enterprise Synchronos who has been taking care of the places of the for years

Thus begins a collaborative relationship between two important entities that have been operating in Matera for years in the field of contemporary art, also following the spirit of the exhibition which, as the artistic director of the Gallery explains, “has as its first objective that of relationship with the people who work in organizations that deal with cultural promotion and valorisation of the territory through art. Good exchange practices that not only allow the activation of positive energies favoring the development of the sector, but are also helpful to young artists who need to be supported in their journey of personal growth and only through positive synergies can all this happen” – she concludes.

The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Galleria Gallerati which, in its spaces set up in the Nomentano district of Rome, offers a rigorous selection activity in the panorama of contemporary artistic production, with particular attention to photography, without however neglecting works in mixed or experimental techniques. Since 2006 in its spaces it hosts exhibitions of mostly young and highly motivated artists, taking on the role of guarantor of the quality and seriousness of the proposals towards the public. The partnership with the Momart Gallery starts precisely with this exhibition to which the founder Carlo Gallerati has made an important contribution, selecting sixteen of the nineteen artists involved, who will exhibit medium format works, ranging from painting to photography. “A dialogue started last year – he says Gallerati – precisely in the Musma spaces, on the occasion of the Alberto Timossi exhibition, among the selected artists, and which materialized in this important exhibition project hosted in the Momart spaces. A collaboration that will certainly not end with this exhibition.”

Closing: Sunday 30 June 2024

The gallery remains open from Thursday to Monday from 11am to 1pm and from 4pm to 7pm.
