Syensqo (formerly Solvay) on the TAR ruling for Legambiente appeal

ALESSADRIA – As the multinational itself communicated in a note Syensqo the Regional Administrative Court of Piedmont has expressed its opinion in recent days regarding theintegrated environmental authorization of February 2021, granted by the Province of Alessandria to Solvay (now Syensqo) for the extension of the production and use of C6O4. “In particular, the Piedmont TAR rejected Legambiente’s appeal and the most extreme positions against the Spinetta Marengo plant and the use of C6O4 the company highlighted.

“The initial appeal proposed as a precaution by Solvay it was also rejected and passed above all thanks to the spontaneous adaptation by Solvay itself to the requirements of the integrated environmental authorization. In these years Solvay has, in fact, made every effort to meet environmental protection needs by investing several million euros (40 in the last year alone) in sustainability and in the best technologies on the market. It is therefore confirmed” concluded Syensqo “also by the judges of the Piedmont TAR that the Spinetta Marengo site operates with a legitimate authorization (AIA) to produce and use C6O4. It is also reiterated that C6O4 is a new generation fluorosurfactant, which is not biopersistent and does not bioaccumulate, l‘the only product and used by the site in a transition phase towards a fluorosurfactant-free technology.’
