ANCONA Like a bolt from the blue that ripped through the Wednesday evening of the red and white fans. When all of Ancona football team was now projected towards the salvation match on Sunday (8pm) at Del Conero against Lucchese – with a victory the Dorians would be arithmetically secure in Serie C – the circular from the Viminale Observatory for sporting events arrived as a surprise : the presale relating to the match against the Tuscans was immediately suspended for, as we read in the note sent by the Interior Ministry, “the identification of adequate rigorous measures”. Everything stopped for the match of the year.
The motivation
The reason lies in the excesses of last Sunday at the Adriatic which saw the fans of Pescara and Ancona as protagonists and which led to the two clubs being fined 2000 euros each. Tomorrow, at 11 am in the Prefecture, the decisive meeting is scheduled in the presence of the various components of the Gos for public order. In the best case there will be no measures, with some sort of warning. Among a wide range of more or less stringent possibilities, the worst case would be the adoption of closed doors (of a particular sector or, even, of the entire stadium). All within a match where, as is known, no risks of any kind would be expected given the small presence of Lucchese supporters and the absence of particular rivalry between the two factions. Stand-by at the pre-sale also for Fermana-Pescara, for the same reasons, with supporters from Abruzzo who could receive a travel ban. The Ancona club will be present at tomorrow’s match with the clear aim of protecting its fans at the crucial moment of the season.
Protect the fans
«Informally – said the CEO of the club in via Schiavoni Roberta Nocelli – the Doric Police Headquarters informed us that it had received a note from the Observatory for the Safety of Sports Events containing the possibility of a measure due to the events that occurred on Sunday last on the occasion of the Pescara-Ancona match. There will be a meeting, in which I will participate, with the competent bodies on Friday (tomorrow, ed.) at 11 am in the Prefecture to discuss the limiting decisions taken by the Observatory on Sports Events regarding the Ancona-Lucchese match”. The hope is that everything can be resolved for the best also to avoid the risk of having to manage a delicate situation from the point of view of public order on the part of the authorities. Since yesterday, meanwhile, there has been an outcry on social media from fans worried about the situation that has arisen. Hardly conceivable for everyone.
Twelve races at risk
Ancona-Lucchese is not the only race considered at risk by the Observatory. Fermana-Pescara, Frosinone-Salernitana, Brindisi-Turris, Trastevere-Nocerina, Anzio-Cavese, Bisceglie-Molfetta, Sangiuliano City-Sant’Angelo Lodigiano, Modena-Como, Campobasso-Termoli, Altamura-Matera and Udinese-Napoli will also receive attention .
