«We do not want to enter into political or pseudo-political controversies, but simply to condemn behavior and language, unfortunately quite widespread, the result of a patriarchal culture that is struggling to die. We believe it is necessary to remember that episodes of this kind are not new. Already in the past, other Councilors have been subjected to behavior and language not suited to the places and roles in which they occurred. Therefore we believe that the time has come to say enough, to stigmatize and strongly condemn these situations, which cannot be included in political struggles, which we reiterate do not belong to us and do not concern us, and in any case even in this interpretation no one can be allowed to use language and expressions of those often used by representatives of the institutions in institutional places. We want to remember, a few hours after the anniversary of the Resistance and Liberation Day, that our Constitution affirms without any type of interpretation the equality and respect for the dignity of everyone.
For these reasons we have written to the Prefect asking for his intervention to ensure that these episodes no longer occur. We reiterate our solidarity with Dr. Piccolo and we reconfirm it to the others who have been victims of this way of doing this language which must no longer belong to anyone, much less the institutions.”
