The president of the Asi Caserta Consortium, Raffaela Pignetti, and the head of the Department for Penitentiary Administration of the Ministry of Justice, Giovanni Russo, have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding for the implementation of the “I redeem myself for the future” project of the duration of three years.

The work carried out to date and the concrete results obtained from the social and work reintegration program (involving 99 inmates from the penitentiary institutions of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Carinola and Aversa) are implemented and strengthened with this new Protocol which aims to ensure paths for inmates specialized professional training and job orientation. The objective is to promote among local businesses the inclusion in the world of work at the end of their sentence of individuals who have successfully completed a re-education path through participation in the activities carried out with “I redeem myself for the future”.

“The experience built by Asi Caserta and the Dap, despite initial territorial mistrust and scepticism, is a successful challenge that we are relaunching today. – declared President Pignetti – The highly professional training that we have provided within penitentiary institutions has offered prisoners qualifications that they can use once out of prison. Through the path we undertake with the signing of this Protocol, new specialized training and insertion plans will be created, responding to the requests of entrepreneurial realities and addressed to concrete opportunities to find employment with a permanent table that will deal with post-sentence orientation and of monitoring the “zero recidivism” objective. Investing in training and work is a fundamental tool for fighting crime and preventing recidivism.”

“The one with the Asi Consortium of Caserta is a synergy that is renewed and continues on even more solid foundations – underlines the head of the Dap Giovanni Russo – and which is part of a broad strategy launched by the Department for a year now which aims to involve businesses, universities and the third sector in the process of re-education and reintegration of detained people. A work of impulse and coordination that testifies to the great commitment of the Administration and the great desire for change that is felt in the penitentiary world”.

Asi Caserta was among the first bodies promoting and implementing projects for public utility works in industrial areas. Since 2019, two training and work cycles have already been completed which have taken the program from an experimental phase to a more consolidated one which provides for a more important involvement of local companies.
