Transport strike in Rome on Monday 6 May. Uphill start to the week for those who rely on public transport. the unions Cobas private work, ADL (workers’ association) Cub Trasporti and the general base union (Sgb) have proclaimed a 24-hour strike.
The lines affected by the strike
What services will be affected by the mobilization? The union initiative involves the Atac, Roma Tpl and Ati (Autoservizi Troiani/Sap) networks and involves both the capital and the province of Rome. Metro, bus and tram services are at risk. Cotral workers have also joined the strike and it is therefore possible that the trips guaranteed by the transport company of the Lazio Region will also be cancelled.
The guarantee bands
On the day of the strike, the so-called guarantee bands will still be respected since it is required by law that they are still respected even during the strike. Consequently, from the start of the service until 8.29am and then from 5pm to 7.59pm, trains, buses, trams and metro will run regularly.
The nocturnes
On Monday 6 May, night buses which have trips scheduled after midnight and therefore the lines 38-44-61-86-170-246-301-451-664-881-916-980 and, as regards the Roma Tpl lines are lines 314-404-444.
The reasons for the strike
For Cobas Private Work, Adl, SGB and CUB Trasporti the strike was called for a series of reasons. It was in fact proclaimed in support of the 300 euro wage increase; for the reduction of working hours from 39 to 35 hours per week, with the same salary and reduction of driving time and working hours for drivers; for the adaptation of safety and health protections in the workplace, as well as for users of the TPL service and for the blocking of privatizations and related tenders for the TPL. USB is instead going on strike due to the failure to respond to the request to convene for the negotiation of the renewal of the “national collective labor agreement Autoferrotranvieri Internavigatori 2024 2027” pursuant to art. 3 c.2) national collective labor agreement 28.11.2018.
