For the Urbani Center of Porto Sant’Elpidio, in fact, it was a particular opportunity for growth, having played the role of ‘promoter of the initiative and leader’ institution, on behalf of the Marche Regional School Office. The project responded to a specific objective: ‘Paths for transversal skills and orientation: progress for a real internationalization of experiences in Europe and development of the dual system’.

Urbani’s relations with the schools of Pula have been proceeding with great satisfaction for over a year. Among the stages are the joint participation in the ‘Festival of Traditions’ in March 2023 and the ‘Pola al Polo’ initiative last October, with the visit to Porto Sant’Elpidio of a Croatian delegation, made up of political exponents and representatives of the local hotel institute.

The Regional School Office for the Marche then organized a new internationalization event in Pola where, in recent days, the Elpidiense delegation made up of the school director Prof. Laura D’Ignazi, with the instrumental function for Internationalization, also went. Prof. Laura Fuccio and the manager’s collaborator, Prof. Marcello Monaco, as well as the students Sara Colangelo of the 4th D Pasticceria of the Alberghiero of Porto Sant’Elpidio and Anirudh Shekhar of the 4th A Cucina of Sant’Elpidio a Mare. The entire delegation from the Marche region was accompanied by the contact person for the Erasmus+ projects at the Regional School Office, Prof. Gianna Prapotnich, by Prof. Maria Grazia Pierluca (contact person for Inclusion at the Provincial School Office of Macerata), by others ten ‘student ambassadors’, representatives of the secondary schools of the Marche and eleven teachers accompanying the respective schools.

In the five days spent in Croatia, the Marche delegations were welcomed with great cordiality by the three Polesine schools which organized training activities aimed at teachers and students. Guided visits were also held to the cities of Rovinj (also to the ‘Ecomuseum of the batana’, a traditional boat) and Pula, guided by the ‘ciceroni’ students from Polesine. Splendid experience at the new headquarters just inaugurated of the hotel institute, visited in its different spaces and environments, ending in the restaurant room where a special lunch was offered to the whole group. The ‘Friendship Pact’ between the schools was officially signed at the headquarters of the ‘Circolo degli Italiani’ on Thursday 18 April, preceded by greetings from the authorities: in attendance were Professor Gianna Prapotinich for the Regional School Office for the Marche, the deputy mayor of Pola and the president of the Circolo degli Italiani, who highlighted the common roots and the importance of collaboration between brotherly peoples; speaking remotely were the general director of the Marche Regional School Office, professor Donatella D’Amico, the president of the Adriatic Ionian Region Intergroup of the Committee of the Regions in Brussels, Dr. Andrea Putzu and Dr. Ssa Chiara Biondi, Councilor for Culture, Education, Sport and Equal Opportunities of the Marche region, who praised the initiative, highlighting its educational and cultural value.

During the ceremony, the presentation videos created by the schools were shown. The agreement provides for future new exchanges between the two shores of the Adriatic, to be clarified naturally in the coming months. For all the students it was a very precious opportunity to get to know each other, learn about different teaching and learning methodologies, use English as a vehicular language, and discover new job opportunities which also served as guidance.
