Antonio Scurati’s monologue on April 25th censored by the RA resounds in the city council of Monzai.e., actually more outside than inside the classroom, controversy breaks out: the fuse was triggered on Monday by Tullio Parrella of Azione who read the text that the writer was supposed to recite on Saturday 20 April during the Rai 3 broadcast “Che Sara” but which was first blocked by the company and then proposed by many broadcasters, including the public one. A few moments earlier, President Cherubina Bertola had almost forgotten to remind the councilors that the Liberation was celebrated on Thursday.

«I’m not left-wing – Parrella began – but I believe in the value of freedom»: at that point the five exponents of Forza Italia and Fratelli d’Italia present left and then returned at the end of the speech.
«There was no censure against Scurati – he has declared Pierfranco Maffè – but the decision of some official who got the timing wrong and gave him the opportunity to make the monologue known to everyone, published by the Prime Minister on social media».

The session continued in more than calm tones which did not catch fire even when Francesco Racioppi of LabMonza accused the center-right of being «terrified by the story».
The councillors, he insisted, must serve «the democratic and anti-fascist Republic born from the Resistance. Get over it even if you get hives at the word April 25th».
«He is the first to leave when he doesn’t want to listen to certain topics», he replied Stefano Galli of FdI while Martina Sassoli del Misto reminded him of his absence at the commemoration of Silvio Berlusconi.

The dust arose on Tuesday, fueled by comments on social media up to the statement from Azione, LabMonza, Monzattiva and Pd «disconcerted» from the move «which expresses the support of local politicians for the censorial attitudes exercised by Rai in harmony with the choices of the right-wing government towards journalists, writers and intellectuals».
The center-left claims «the need for a free and anti-fascist press” and does not take “for granted that these values are representative of all political subjects who claim to place themselves within the constitutional arc».
«It was not a distancing from the values of anti-fascism – clarified Maffè – if anyone thinks so it is in bad faith. Don’t joke about these things». «I don’t dispute the contents of the monologue – he added Andrea Arbizzoni of FdI – but the instrumental use of this situation: those who protest today didn’t say anything when they were prevented from speaking to Daniele Capezzone or to Minister Roccella».
