The third edition of the scientific dissemination festival “Scienza sotto la Cupola”, an initiative organized from 16 to 18 April by the Education Service of the Province of Novara with “Science is Cool”, University, concluded successfully and with the participation of hundreds of students. of Eastern Piedmont and Iti “Omar” of Novara and aimed at school children of all levels in the area, which has now become an educational and cultural heritage for the area and which, as always, has offered constant innovations in terms of research and discoveries scientific.
The appointments and the schools involved
The various events, from seminars, to laboratories, to scientific aperitifs open to the public, to engaging escape rooms, were hosted by the Broletto in Novara, but the 2024 edition saw, in addition to the use of the UPO structures, also some special events also organized in the area and, in particular, in Alessandria, Arona and Gozzano.
Among the secondary schools, the “Carlo Alberto” classical-linguistic high school, the “Antonelli” scientific high school, the “Carlo Alberto” scientific high school, in addition to the “Omar” ITI, participated in the festival with their students. the “Casorati” artistic, musical and dance high school, the “Bonfantini” IIS and the Ravizza IPS of Novara, the “Galilei” High School of Borgomanero and the “Volta” Itis of Alessandria, included in the Paths for Transversal Skills and Orientation.
The themes
The constantly evolving relationship between science and art, the new forms of narration and technology to describe cultural heritage and mathematical science as a tool of creativity also used by artists of the past are some of the topics covered during the 2024 edition of the festival: particularly The theme of eco-sustainability was also current, in relation to which magnetic materials were presented to the students in their use, evolution and revolution in the energy sector, becoming essential components today.
Further opportunities for reflection were those on equity in medical care considering the sex and gender differences in response to drugs and the future in agriculture regarding the paths considered most sustainable in the field of agricultural sciences and single health, with a focus on artificial intelligence and its influence on life sciences, exploring the potential, promises and limits of this new research paradigm and its concrete applications.
