Blood still wets the streets of Etna. For reasons still being ascertained regarding the exact dynamics of the accident, late yesterday evening (5 May), around 11.30 pm, in the Acirese hamlet of Mangano, a motorcyclist, ER born in 1993 from Acireale, lost his life.
According to what was possible to learn, the centaur on board his Honda Cbr 600, on state road 114, lost control of his motorbike on the Mangano stretch, violently impacting a Hyundai car and then rebounding into a Volkswagen Golf.
Death would have occurred instantly despite the boy wearing the regulation helmet. The carabinieri of the Acireale Radiomobile Unit and the 118 health workers intervened on site and were unable to do anything other than confirm the death of the 31-year-old.
A file on the incident was opened by the magistrate on duty, while the medical examiner carried out an initial cadaveric inspection. The stretch of the state road was only reopened to traffic around 6am this morning.
