The Democratic Party of Aprilia in the square with the ANPI this Thursday 25 April for the celebration of liberation from Nazi-fascism. The appointment is starting from 9.30 in Piazza Roma. Tribute will be paid to Giacomo Matteotti, on the centenary of his assassination, and to Sandro Pertini, Partisan and President of the Republic, with a procession that will reach the street and park that remember them.

“To remember the morning 79 years ago – we read in the PD note – when the Northern Italian National Liberation Committee from Milan proclaimed the general insurrection in all the territories still occupied by the Nazi-fascists. April 25th is the holiday that commemorates the Resistance, the partisans who allowed our country to regain freedom after the fascist dictatorship. There are those who, on the eve of this April 25th, have tried to rewrite history, taking the side of the defeated.

History cannot be rewritten. To those who denied the anti-fascist roots of the Constitution we want to remind with the words of Piero Calamandrei that “behind every article of this Constitution, young people, you must see young people like you, fallen fighting, shot, hanged, tortured, starved to death in the camps of concentration, deaths in Russia, deaths in Africa, deaths on the streets of Milan, on the streets of Florence, who gave their lives so that freedom and justice could be written on this Charter”.

The Democratic Party is with the partisans, to remember the women and men murdered by the fascist regime, to reaffirm the importance of memory, to defeat oblivion.”

“The recent affair of Rai censorship of a monologue by Antonio Scurati on Matteotti and anti-fascism is very serious – comments the secretary of the Aprilia Democratic Party, Alessandro Cosmi – and April 25th will be the opportunity to cultivate this collective memory and prevent anyone who tries to rewrite history: a great participation, also at Aprilia, will be the best response to all those who are nostalgic. It will also be an opportunity to reiterate that we want to take care of the Constitution, even in the parts not yet fully implemented, think of the issue of social inequalities.
