PESCARA. Disappointment, a lot, and an immediate bath of humility for a Pescara team that was unable to provide continuity against Ancona and melted like snow in the sun after the first positive 10 minutes of the match. In some ways it was, on the contrary, a match similar to the one in Olbia. Sardinians aggressive at the start and then dominated by Pescara. On Sunday at the Adriatico the Abruzzo team started well, but then on the pitch only Ancona could be seen who deservedly obtained the three points. The reason? The brilliant Pescara of 10 days ago certainly cannot be traced back to Olbia’s excessive fragility because Olbia themselves drew away to Pontedera. The game plan simply failed with Boscaglia’s tactical choices which hurt a Pescara team incapable of finding the right solutions. Closed spaces, only Accornero looking for an individual play assisted by Pierno. On the contrary, Ancona with Saco in the central positions, Paolucci and Cioffi on the sides, knocked out the defensive system of a Pescara team which with Cascione on the other hand had always proven solid.
The choices. In hindsight, playing with Meazzi and Tunjov in midfield was not the winning choice. In the phase of non-possession for the Biancazzurri, Ancona found the advantage too easily and the absence of Aloi was decisive. The former Avellino player is the only Pescara player capable of guaranteeing experience, quality and quantity at the same time. It will be determined in the playoffs. Better in the second half with Dagasso even if the game was over. And with Squizzato’s disqualification in Fermo, the white and blue born in 2004 is a candidate to play as a point guard. Vergani? Difficult match for him. Positive note is that of having put minutes in the legs in view of the play offs. However, the negative moment for Cuppone continues: he entered at the beginning of the second half and was unable to make an impact, revealing his usual technical shortcomings.
The analysis of the owner. The defeat against Ancona was analyzed by president Daniele Sebastiani. «We started well in the first 15 minutes but after that we didn’t play at the level we were used to with Cascione. Our limits came out, they were good at realizing the opportunities that we had but not. And in the second half with Cangiano we could reopen it. It was a bad match, but we need to review something.” Sebastiani also spoke about the protest and the corporate issue. «I’m used to the chants against me by now, I hope they end soon so it means I’ve found someone to give in to. Novelty? At the moment none but with the name of Sebastiani Pescara will never fail.”
Towards the playoffs. There are 90 minutes to go until the end of the regular season and the positions are taking shape. However, Pescara’s position is not yet certain. To date, the biancazzurri are in seventh place (overtaken by Juventus NG) and would face Pontedera at home with two results out of three available at the end of the 90′. But everything could change after the final act of the regular season. Pescara will play on Sunday (at 8pm) away against a Fermana team almost condemned to Serie D, but who still have some slim hope of playing out. The Marche players must win and hope that Ancona does not beat an already safe Lucchese team or Entella loses at home against Recanatese. Only in these cases would Fermana play the play outs. Pescara, on the other hand, by winning the match, would leapfrog Juventus NG into 6th place either in the event of a defeat or a draw for the Bianconeri in Pesaro. In the event of a defeat for the biancazzurri and simultaneous victories for Arezzo, Rimini and Pontedera (for which even a draw would be enough), Pescara would actually finish 10th. This is why winning in Fermo now becomes the watchword.
