Dinamo Molfetta, another defeat in the play-off phase

Just like in the first leg, Dinamo CAB Molfetta only holds out one set against ASD Trepuzzi Volley who also wins the first match of the second round of the playoffs 1-3. A somewhat strange match in its epilogue which ended with a defeat for coach Michele Drago’s girls after dominating the first set. Lack of reaction to the first difficulties: this was underlined by the coach at the end of the match, mostly motivating the defeat at the hands of the Salento team in this way.

As underlined, Dinamo’s approach to the match is perfect. In the first set, after an initial balance, the girls in the orange shirts appear more determined and with Lazzizzera they reach the result of 6-3 by taking advantage of a winning serve twice in a row. Shortly after, it is Mastropasqua who mocks the opponent’s block and, with the roles reversed, she herself blocks her opponents perfectly. At 10-5, again on serve, Cervelli scores, subsequently placing a +7 on the Salento team. Subsequently, Parisi takes over and first completes an excellent team effort and later punishes the Trepuzzi defense by smashing from the second line. Having scored the 24th point with Lazzizzera, Dinamo is preparing to close the set in their favor with the result 25-15 after a mini break from the guests. An excellent result from the orange girls which bodes well for the rest of the race. Needless to say because that mini break at the end of the first set gives an immediate boost to Trepuzzi who enters the court with a different attitude.

On the 4-1 in favor of Dinamo achieved by Sciancalepore, the Salento team reacted by taking themselves to -2, but it was still Dinamo with Parisi and Mastropasqua who imposed a 6-point advantage on their opponents. At 11-5 Dinamo, Trepuzzi’s comeback begins as they take away important points from their opponents minute after minute, reaching a draw at 13-13: a result that persists until 16-16. The Molfetta team tries to regain control of the set, taking the lead again at 19-17, but suffers the vehement return of Trepuzzi who takes the lead at 19-20 and subsequently closes the set at 21-25, reopening the match. The response from Dinamo CAB requested by Drago does not even arrive in the third set in which Trepuzzi immediately takes the lead. In the first minutes the set proceeds in perfect balance with overtaking and counter-overtaking. Dinamo responded promptly to Salento’s lead and with Parisi found the equalizer at 5-5. The hosts manage to take the lead by two points, trying to escape at 13-8. As happened in the second set, the opponents do not fall apart, they remain compact and determined and close the distances. Lazzizzera tries to keep her opponents at a distance by scoring the 17-12 point, but shortly after the lights go out.

Trepuzzi first reaches a draw at 19-19 and subsequently wins the third set with the same result as the second 21-25. It’s a difficult moment for Dinamo. Coach Drago tries to shake up his girls in an attempt to recover the match and bring it to a tiebreak, but it’s all in vain. In the fourth and final set, the Salento team once again started strong, achieving a triple advantage immediately after the 4-4 draw, thanks to repeated errors by the home team. Dinamo tries to get back into the game with Lazzizzera and Sciancalepore who halve the deficit and allow the orange team to equalize at 11-11. Shortly after, Trepuzzi gets back on track with an irreparable +6 which also makes a brief break from Dinamo at the end useless. The fourth set also ends with a result of 21-25 with a 1-3 identical to the first leg. As usual, the analysis of the match is entrusted to the words of coach Michele Drago. «I’m really disappointed with what I saw on the court – he commented – after a truly impeccable first set, also working well with the central players, from the second set we complicated our lives by making mistakes very often in serving and then in receiving. Added to the errors is a great lack of character. It’s clear that if you don’t have that competitive anger it’s difficult to move forward. The opponent was really within our reach despite not having Fracchiolla available due to a knee injury.” The next match is scheduled for Sunday 28 April at 7.30 pm at Pala Poli against ASD Aurora Brindisi. However, the boys of Serie D Dinamo achieved an important victory as they beat ASD ASEM 3-0 (25-20; 25-16; 25-20) on Sunday.

These are the words of coach Michele Cavaliere at the end of the race. «The match against ASEM Bari was not to be taken for granted both because we were returning from a match in which the work done in the gym seemed to have been in vain, and because today’s opponents boast very good defensive skills… recovering balls and reconstructing the game – he stated – However, the boys played not only with their hearts but also with their heads, they put into practice a good part of what they tried in the gym during this week to try to get the better of the resistance of the ASEM boys. Naturally this result must be the starting point for next Saturday’s match against the tough team from S. Giovanni Rotondo, to try to confirm the good things seen today.” And in fact the boys from Serie D Dinamo will be back on the pitch away on Saturday 27 April at 6.30pm against Volley Academy SGR.
