presented the future of the city

Olbia. Yesterday the presentation of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PUMS) was held at the Archaeological Museum of Olbia, a significant moment for tracing the future path of the city of Olbia in terms of development and organization of urban transport.

The Municipality has clearly outlined its ambitions for the future, with the aim of implementing cycle paths in all neighbourhoods, connecting them to existing or under construction infrastructure, and promoting new ways of organizing spaces through the implementation of new signs and projects inspired by school streets. Currently, only a small percentage of Olbia people use public transport or alternatives to private driving. To achieve the objective of reducing the use of cars, the aim is to strengthen public transport, in particular that managed by Aspo (Public Services Company of Olbia), but also the service offered by Arst (Sardinian Regional Transport Company) and RFI (Italian Railway Network).

One of the most anticipated projects is the rail connection between Olbia Terranova station and Costa Smeralda airport, which aims to improve connectivity and sustainable mobility in the city. These initiatives are integrated with the redevelopment projects of the San Simplicio and Orgosoleddu neighborhoods, as well as with the relocation of the university to the city center. The PUMS represents the point of reference for sustainable mobility planning and will be fundamental for the future urban development of Olbia.

The Municipality does not operate alone on this path: the PUMS involves close collaboration with other companies, associations and institutions, involving all key actors (stakeholders) to guarantee an integrated and shared approach to sustainable mobility. Numerous personalities took part in the presentation, including Massimo Deiana (president of the Port System Authority), Silvio Pippobello (CEO of Geasar) and Salvatore Perra (deputy director of Arst), together with Massimo Putzu (general director of Aspo), PUMS Rup Sergio Usai and university professors Carlo Marcati and Italo Meloni. La Nuova reports it.
