Avezzano: the TARI drops in 2024

Tari, news in sight in Avezzano where from the risk of a significant increase, blocked in 2023 by the intervention of the mayor and the commission appointed ad hoc by the mayor, we move on to a reversal of trend which represents good news for citizens.

In the municipal council meeting today, April 23rd at 4.00 pm, the significant points on the agenda will be different, starting with the report called to certify the health of the municipal coffers and the approval of the transaction with the Trara Revaluation for the old sugar refinery railway destined to host the new “via delle stelle”: a cycle/pedestrian path of almost 9 km round trip.

Much of the attention, however, will certainly go to citizens’ pockets, or to the Tari tariffs.

On this point, good news arrives from Palazzo di Città. While the ANCI sounds the alarm over the risk of increased bills in Italy, in Avezzano the amount paid for the tax on the collection of solid urban waste is destined to fall. The details will only be revealed in the city council but the substance lies in the words of the President of the Budget Commission Lucio Mercogliano which anticipates “With the revision of the Financial Plan and the approval of the new tariffs, not only will the freeze on increases, already stopped last year, be confirmed for citizens, but the tariffs will go down, with overall savings of over 200 thousand euros. An important result not only because it occurs at a time when many municipalities are forced to revise the Tari upwards but also because everyone will remember the in-depth work that was done in 2023 to stop the concrete and real risk of a greater burden of the tax. I don’t want to anticipate the details that I will represent in tomorrow’s city council, I’m just saying that the firm position held in the past year and the choice not to proceed with those increases (around 500 thousand euros foreseen in the ACIAM tariffs) and trigger the new tender for ‘contract, has rewarded. Also in this case our mayor was not only determined to protect his fellow citizens but far-sighted.”

These are the topics included in the agenda of the civic meeting convened by the Prime Minister Fabrizio Ridolfi
