Sassari. The president of the municipal council Maurilio Murru is running again with the civic coalition for a seat in the Civic Assembly. He confirms this with a terse communication released on Friday. «With this press note I inform you of my official candidacy for the electoral competition of next 8/9 June, for the renewal of the Sassari City Council in the “Sassari è” list which supports Nicola Lucchi for the position of mayor of Sassari. I have chosen to continue my commitment to the city of Sassari which I had the honor of serving first as a city councilor and then as president of the city council in the current administration. I am running to continue carrying out my service for my beloved Sassari, which can and must be a protagonist at both a regional and national level.”

For Murru, who in recent months left the M5s and immediately afterwards ran for the regional council with the PSd’Az, but was not elected, this is the first attempt to be directly elected as a municipal councillor: until now he had in fact entered the Civic Assembly in both 2014 and 2019 as a defeated mayoral candidate. After the 2019 elections he was elected president of the city council. In December 2020 the entry into the civic majority of mayor Nanni Campus with the then M5s group at Palazzo Ducale. In 2010, however, he made his first candidacy for the City Assembly on the “United Left” list, which included Sel, Rifondazione Comunista, Socialist Party and other left-wing acronyms.
