Benevento

42 years after the barbaric assassination of the Regional Councilor Raffaele Delcogliano and his driver and friend Aldo Iermano, killed by the red brigades and the Camorra, Sannio remembers its children.

The eighth edition of the literary artistic prize named in their memory and promoted by the Provincial Coordination of Libera Benevento was celebrated at the University of Sannio.

A competition aimed at Samnite schools of all levels this year dedicated to the theme “The border that unites”.

“This is a political occasion in the highest and noblest sense of the term. The students’ works were a spur to everyone’s consciences – remarked Michele Martino, coordinator of Libera Benevento -. This year’s theme is dramatically current and also represents the great commitment of Delcogliano and Iermano who had to unite boundaries such as that of training and work and mark others so that the Camorra did not enter the world of institutions and lose the dominion of training . This border must be a wake-up call for everyone, starting with politics. The news of these days shows us that there is still a lot to do against politics which is the management of power and is in clear contradiction with the political style of Delcogliano who was committed to uniting the internal areas. Unfortunately, 42 years have passed and the internal areas have become a problem and not an opportunity as Delcogliano would have liked”.

And the ceremony relaunched the initiative scheduled for the anniversary of the assassination, April 27, “A flower for Aldo and Raffaele” at the commemorative stele in the city’s Villa Comunale. Much emotion also for the families of the victims Antonio Iermano, son of Aldo and Felicita Delcogliano, Raffaele’s sister who attended the ceremony.
