The joke is perfect to describe him “strange phenomenon” reported to us by some motorists in at least two points in the province of Varese: the roundabout between Casciago and Varese and those in between Ponte Tresa and Marchirolo.
In those areas, in fact, a character with a frog mask and with, around his neck, a large sign from the delirious message: “The earth is flat” (also in English version: “The Earth is Flat”).
It is difficult to understand the reason for this display of culture. One hypothesis concerns the fact that the World Frog Day is celebrated on April 28th to raise awareness of the importance of amphibians for ecosystems. A commendable initiative – we remember how the presence of man, the use of pesticides, exotic species, the destruction of natural habitats, pollution and climate change endanger the populations of these species – but that has no bearing on the hoax flat earthism.
We will therefore see if, in some way, the initiative is it related to “Save the Frog” or is it a gimmick by guerrilla marketing or simply the playful action of a (or some) joker.
