Rome, 23 April. (askanews) – The end of the counting arrives late at night in Basilicata which decrees Vito Bardi’s victory at the helm of the Basilicata region. The centre-right candidate, also supported by Matteo Renzi and Carlo Calenda, reconfirms himself as president of the Region with 56.63%. Piero Marrese, centre-left candidate, stops at 42.16%. While Eustachio Follia, from the Volt list, obtained 1.21%.

Over half of the voters stayed at home: 282,886 voters (49.81%). It is the party of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the top of the preferences of Lucanians with 17.39%. Fi exceeds, and by a lot with 13.01%, the League which stops at 7.81%. Salvini’s party is almost neck and neck with Carlo Calenda’s Azione which obtains 7.51%. Italia Viva con Orgoglio Lucano also did well (7.03%). It is followed by the Union of the Centre-Christian Democracy-Popular United with 2.54%. On the centre-left front, the PD is the second largest party in Basilicata with 13.87%, followed closely by Angelo Chiorazzo’s Basilicata Casa Comune with ‘11.18%. Chiorazzo is crowned mister preferences with 7,284 votes, followed by Marcello Pittella of Action who wins 7,157 preferences). The M5S does badly, stopping at 7.66%. Avs-Psi-La Basilicata Possible obtains 5.79% and Basilicata Unita 2.86%.
