COSENZA During the morning of 16 April, the students of the “Terza C” and “Terza D” classes of the Mendicino State Comprehensive Institute, led by the school director Dr. Assunta Morrone, carried out a visit to two important local institutions, as a significant moment of the Fidapa Project “We active and aware citizens”.
Accompanied by Prof. Roberta Chiodo, project manager and by the teachers Prof. Ida Altomare, Prof. Marinetta Zanfini, Prof. Giulia Argirò, Prof Costantino Rizzuti and by Dr. Lucia Nicosia, President of the Cosenza Section of the Italian Federation Women Arts Professions Business (Fidapa) visited the Prefecture of Cosenza, a peripheral body of the state administration with general competence and government representation functions at the provincial level.
Welcomed by the Vicar of the Prefect, Vice Prefect Dr. Rosa Correale and by the Head of Cabinet, Vice Prefect Dr. Giuseppe Di Martino, by Dr. Antonella Regio, Deputy Vice Prefect and by Dr. Antonella Vecchio, personal secretary of the Prefect, after a brief visit to the Prefect’s Office, the children were able to ask and learn, in the meeting room of the Prefecture, from the hands of the managers, reference information on the peculiar functions of the Territorial Office of the Government of Cosenza, within the delicate functions of control and monitoring in the socio-economic sectors (situations of hardship and social problems at local level, mediation interventions for employment crises and trade union disputes, power of precept in case of strike in essential services) of safety (public order and safety, civil protection , environmental emergencies) and institutional, as a reference for peripheral state offices, local authorities, other public and private institutions.
Following this, the students, always accompanied by their (or the aforementioned) teachers and the FIDAPA President, went to the headquarters of the Carabinieri Provincial Command of Cosenza where they met the Commander of the Operations Department, Lt. Col. Dario Pini and the Commander of the Norm of the CC Company of Cosenza, Lt. Luigi Bazzurri, to whom the students asked questions on the preventive and repressive functions of the Force and, in general, on the articulation of the Armed Force with specific reference to the Territorial, Mobile and Special lines , as well as on the functions of the Judicial Police and on activities to support the population in the event of natural disasters and with a view to social reassurance. At the end of the discussion with the officers, the boys paid a visit to the premises of the Provincial command, stopping, in particular, at the Operations Centre, the beating heart and coordination body between departments and soldiers engaged in patrolling and control services of the territory, and in the basement courtyard where they were able to witness a demonstration of the reclamation and safety intervention of a fake IEDD explosive device by the anti-sabotage bomb squad and a review of the vehicles in use at the Norm – Aliquota Radiomobile.
Furthermore, following particular questions posed by the young people to their interlocutors to find out about the possible existence of particular procedures and specialized personnel in the case of welcoming women victims of violence, their curiosity was answered and they were accompanied to visit the “pink room”, a room created specifically for this type of delicate intervention. At the end of the visits, the students paid homage to the Prefect of Cosenza, SE Vittoria Ciaramella and to the Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri of Cosenza, Col. Agatino Saverio Spoto, of the book written and illustrated by themselves entitled “La bravura di Anselmo” and ” Antonina in love” at the end of a day which established, once again, the close interdependence, interfunctionality and synergy between School, Prefecture and Carabinieri and allowed the children to perceive the world of institutions as a support tool in the service of the citizen and the population.
