Keep clean and run 2024, the sixth stage of the longest plogging in the world in L’Aquila.

The practice of sports plogging, there run collecting rubbishcelebrates the tenth edition of Keep Clean and Run. The event, sponsored by the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, aims to raise awareness in the territories of the widespread phenomenon of litteringthat is to say the abandonment of small waste. The formula of Keep Clean and Run it’s very simple, seven plogging eco-marathons in seven consecutive days – started on April 17, which will continue until today, Tuesday April 23 – in seven different metropolitan areas: Turin (17 April), Milan (18 April), Bologna (19 April), Florence (20 April), Perugia and Assisi (21 April), L’Aquila (22 April) and Rome (23 April ), involving a total of 40 municipalities. Seven marathons with just one participant: Roberto Cavallo. Standard bearer of plogging in Italy and promoter of this undertaking, for the eco-runner 42 kilometers every day, including the action of collecting (and transporting) the waste encountered along the way. Alongside him at every stage were friends and plogging fans, with all those who wanted to support him in his undertaking of running and collecting rubbish. THE PROGRAM OF THE AQUILA STAGE

The sixth stage has begun Monday 22 April from Piazza Duomo in L’Aquilain the presence ofmunicipal administration and ASM, a company that manages the waste collection service in the Abruzzo capital. After leaving the municipality, the runners headed towards Barete, where in via Federici they were welcomed by the municipal administration and a representative of the Barete primary school, for a brief greeting and the presentation of the official flag of the event. The race then headed towards Pizzoli where, at the Church of Santo Stefano, at 1.30 pm, the runners were received by the municipal administration and subsequently headed towards the Don Milani Institute to meet a delegation of students from the school. The race then headed towards again L’Aquila, destination Parco Castello, in the presence of a representative of the L’Aquila municipal council.

At the end of the event, the quantity of waste collected as well as the kg of CO2 equivalent will be counted and communicated. Furthermore, like every year, the Keep Clean and Run it is also an opportunity to conduct scientific research to examine various environmental parameters. If in 2023 the research focused on the analysis of microplastics on lake beaches, this year we will focus on air quality in urban contexts. Roberto Cavallo, in fact, will bring with him an “electronic nose” provided by the American company ATMO capable of collecting data such as the percentage of fine dust and volatile organic compounds in the air. The tenth edition has the Sponsored by the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, of the Senate of the Republic, from the House of Representatives and of theUniversity of L’Aquila.
