Catania, enters a shop on Via Etnea and steals clothes: blocked and reported

Attempted shoplifting

The attempt at “free shopping” by a 48-year-old from Catania who, having spotted a prestigious clothing store on the central Via Etnea, had set to “work” in the women’s clothing department ended badly.

The man, after having entered the business, having looked here and there like a regular customer and having chosen some items of clothing, holding them in his hand, had continued to wander around the department until, instead, to go to the checkout, he had suddenly continued straight ahead, heading towards the exit.

After “nonchalantly” passing the anti-shoplifting barriers, even though they had started ringing, the thief attempted to leave the building without paying for the goods he had taken from the shelves shortly before.

The vigilantes, however, who had already spotted the man, suspicious of his strange “tours” inside the shop, had immediately raised the alarm, informing the Operations Center of the Carabinieri Provincial Command of Catania. The latter had immediately given instructions to a crew from the Radiomobile Unit, already present in the area in prevention activities against predatory crimes, to station themselves in front of the shop, awaiting the 48-year-old’s moves.

As soon as the subject left the business, the military immediately stopped him, took him over and identified him. When searched, the thief still had 4 items of women’s clothing under his arm, with a commercial value of around 200 euros, with the anti-theft plates still attached.

The police returned the unpaid stolen goods to the store manager, while the man was reported to the judicial authorities for attempted aggravated theft.
