Gianpaolo Calvarese, former referee, spoke about the episode of the contact between Yerry Mina and Alcaraz during the Cagliari-Juventus match

Today’s edition of the newspaper Tuttosport reported the statements released by Gianpaolo Calvarese. The former referee spoke about the episode of contact between Yerry Mina and Carlos Alcaraz during the Unipol Domus match between Cagliari and the Juventus. His words:

«On the weekend of the 33rd matchday of Serie A, Piccinini’s direction at the Unipol Domus, in Cagliari-Juve, was the most controversial. The most disputed episode is Mina’s elbow against Alcaraz in the Sardinians’ area, which was not sanctioned by the match director. An error, however not corrected by VAR: the Colombian jumps higher than the Argentine and hits him in the face, before intercepting the ball with his head. The impact also caused Alcaraz a noticeable wound, which cost him three stitches: a penalty foul. […] But the Mina-Alcaraz contact occurs before the Colombian hits the ball: this is why the tackle is irregular”.
