Only one result to compete in the playouts, only one result to reopen the tenuous hopes for the race for salvation. It starts at home Barletta football the most important week of the season, the one that will lead to the fundamental and delicate home match against Fasano.
35 points for the white-blue team, in clear free fall after a resounding start to the season (Fasano who also occupied first place – ed.) and fresh from a clear knockout within friendly walls against the bottom of the championship Santa Maria Cilento for 0-3. A team which, like Barletta, is the worst in terms of numbers in this second round and which will present itself at the “Puttilli” with a change on the bench (Tiozzo sacked, we go with one between Monticciolo and Epifani ed.) and with a morale decidedly subdued.
The difference, which is absolutely not insignificant, lies entirely in those five points of advantage that Fasano has over Barletta: a gap that would allow, barring any particular reversals, “Faso” to compete in the playouts. Completely different story for Barletta, fresh from yet another colorless test in Martina, to which is added the looming need to score points to keep alive the landing in the salvation play-offs. With a success, the red and whites would be -2 behind Fasano and could threaten Gallipoli and Angri, also engaged in a direct clash forbidden to the faint of heart. With a draw or a defeat, however, the hopes of salvation would almost definitively be reduced, considering that, in addition to defending a third-to-last place which is anything but obvious (Bitonto just three points behind the red and whites, ed.), Barletta would have to remain below the threshold of seven points from the sixth from last, with the trip to Angri still to be played.
In short, a rather complex situation, but one that the red and whites must approach with maturity and desire to do things. It becomes necessary to retrieve items from the infirmary as Camilleri, the only one capable of giving greater security to a defense which, during the match against Martina, revealed all its defects, and smoothing out every single detail for the match against Fasano. Not winning with the blue and white would be yet another misstep in a season that has progressively drifted towards drifting; to then do so in front of one’s fans would be the sad sporting epilogue of a failed project that is solely responsible for the top management. It certainly doesn’t deserve a place that will respond with important numbers even in what, beating iron, could be the last match of the season within friendly walls.
