A well-known name, although extremely controversial, to push voters to the polls to vote for Lega. At least those who think like him. The leader of the Northern League Matteo Salvini is thinking of fielding General Roberto Vannacci as the leader in the constituencies of Southern Italy. He should lead the lists of two or perhaps three constituencies and among these there would be the Sicily Sardinia constituency.
His official request to the general author of the controversial book “The World in Reverse” was made public during a demonstration in Puglia yesterday, Sunday 21 April. On that occasion Salvini clearly said “I hope that General Vannacci accepts my invitation to run”
Who is General Vannacci
Roberto Vannacci is a 55 year old Italian general. He is chief of staff of Operational Land Forces Command and was commander of Task Force 45 during the War in Afghanistan. In the last year he has hit the headlines for the controversy that exploded over the statements contained in his book published not as an official but as a private citizen in which he expresses opinions accused of racism and more.
Leader of the list in Sicily and Sardinia
If Vannacci accepts Salvini plans to make him the leader candidate in Southern Italy. In the islands constituency he would be one of the two names missing from the list of Sardinian candidates. Meanwhile, the League is starting its moderate house project with the political agreement signed with the UDC and with the transition of Cesa and Minardo from independents to the mixed group.

After all, these are elections with preferences and therefore the position on the list does not count much for the purposes of the election

The League is also fielding one of its regional councilors. It’s about Mimmo Turanofrom Trapani, coming from the ranks of the UDC but adhering to the League before the agreements with Cesa’s party and who had already run in the League.
The alternation with women then involves the candidacy of Francesca Reitano, Messina from the province, former councilor of the municipality of Acquedolci who had already attempted the race for the European elections two legislatures ago but in the ranks of Forza Italia.
