The only Mazzola member to speak to the microphones in the press room at the end of the match was Stefano Argilli. Below are his statements:

Match – “We are not happy, we didn’t have a bad game but there were defensive errors and we were punished by the quality of the opponents, perhaps more Galligani alone than others who we contained quite well. We had a few opportunities, it would have been nice to score at least one goal. For us it was a difficult end to the season on a physical level.”

Score – “If we had been closer in the score until the end I would have been happy because it would have been nice to make the match closer, but credit to Siena for not allowing us to do so. I didn’t understand some of the referee’s choices. This was a special game, a celebration game, there was no need to give high fives and risk someone getting hurt. But he says that they apply the regulations.”

Field – “I hoped it would be a little better, but instead it was very bad and perhaps even a little dangerous. His foot didn’t turn, I talked about it with the coach and with Guerri. We said: let’s hope no one gets hurt. We wanted to make a good impression, playing a game at a high pace also given the crowd. I think people had fun, we didn’t speculate or become entrenched, we took part in this beautiful day.”

Regrets – “It’s a reflection that I make as a coach, the club has ambitious objectives and asks us to do our best. Through this type of interpretation we have achieved great results, seeking this type of quality. We know that to win the championship we lack something in terms of determination, but we had fun and proposed a precise identity. The satisfaction is that Mazzola is recognized as a good team and a serious club.”

Future – “It’s a question of waiting a week, it’s right that the year ends and we talk to the owners. Antonello Pianigiani will decide. We have a good staff that has bonded well with the players too. There are possibilities to continue, if the owners want to plan next season well they have the advantage of being able to start immediately.” (Jacopo Fanetti)
