The first chance of the day goes to Johnsen, who collects a cross from Castagnetti and turns the shot without however finding the target. In the 5th minute Catanzaro responds and Saro is decisive in saying no to Vandeputte, served inside the penalty area by Iemmello. At 13′ the first substitution of the match: Ravanelli suffers a muscle pain and is taken over by Lochoshvili. In the 25th minute the hosts try with Ambrosino, whose free-kick attempt ends up high, and Cremonese responds after three minutes: enveloping action by the grey-reds which ends with Pickel’s powerful right-footed shot from inside the area, blocked by a great reflection of Fulignati. On the turnaround in front Ambrosino runs away from Antov and shoots again, with the ball going out. In the 32nd minute Bianchetti intervenes on Ambrosino when he slides and is booked. Vazquez proposes himself and takes a shot from outside in the 35th minute, but without finding the target. Two minutes later Pickel commits a foul against Petriccione and is booked for protests following the referee’s whistle. In the 43rd minute Antov recovers the ball and serves Johnsen, who frees his right foot from the edge of the area without however challenging Fulignati. The first half ends at the end of the minute of injury time conceded by Dionisi, with Cremonese in attack.

The second half began without substitutions and with the Grigiorossi moving forward: first Vazquez fought in the penalty area, then Castagnetti hit the crossbar with a treacherous cross from the right that went over Fulignati before hitting the woodwork. In the 51st minute, double change for Catanzaro, with the injured Ambrosino making way for Biasci and Ghion taking over Pontisso. The Calabrians restart quickly in the 60th minute and go for a shot with Biasci, shielded by an excellent intervention from Antov inside the penalty area. In the 74th minute the Bulgarian made an empty-net save following a shot by Iemmello who had previously passed Saro. A few seconds later, a yellow card for Petriccione, who intervened harshly on Sernicola. In the 75th minute, double changes for both: in the Cremonese team Ghiglione and Buonaiuto take the place of Zanimacchia and Vazquez, while for the Giallorossi Stoppa and Pompetti replace Sounas and Petriccione. In the 79th minute Johnsen stopped a restart and was booked. In the 82nd minute Vandeputte hits the post one-on-one with Saro, but the referee stops everything for offside. Three minutes later Mr. Stroppa introduces Coda and Falletti for Tsadjout and Johnsen. In the 90th minute the referee assigns 4 minutes of injury time and Catanzaro replaces Vandeputte with Brighenti. Ghion comes close to scoring with a right-footed shot inside the penalty area that goes off the post, then the match continues without further opportunities until Dionisi’s final whistle.
