One morning and 90 events including sport, entertainment, music and reflection on the main environmental and social issues affecting our planet, an opportunity for young people to discuss and meet: this will be Earth Day in Viale Maria Luigia next Monday 22nd April, promoted by the Ulivi, Romagnosi, Rondani, Melloni, Sanvitale and Parmigianino schools, with the precious collaboration of Arpae – sustainability education sector and the patronage of the Municipality of Parma. A rich program of events conceived and created by the kids, who have gathered the free collaboration of over 50 local entities and dozens of experts.
The event reserved for schools only will take place in Viale Maria Luigia from 9.00 to 12.00, completely pedestrianized for the occasion and peacefully invaded by thousands of students. The objective of the students and school communities is to send a clear message to the City and to make the space in front of the schools more liveable and with less traffic.
The project was started a few years ago by the Ulivi and Romagnosi high schools and, within a short time, it spread to the other institutes in an educational journey on the environment, mobility, good practices, climate change, which saw among the many initiatives launched in various classes also the creation of a study on home-school mobility, the construction of two parklets, the design of an outdoor classroom and finally the organization of a collective moment such as Earth Day where we can reiterate a new idea of the city sustainable, supportive and community-based.
