For the DC, some leaders will run with the aim of the local elections but there are also those who will not be there in this round. The city councilor Vincenzo Cascino, among the first to join the DC’s local project and very close to Commissioner Licata, has decided that he will not be in the running. “I am helping to structure the list and I believe that there are valid candidates who will be able to make an excellent contribution to the party and the coalition,” he says. This time, despite long administrative and council experience, Cascino (the only DC councillor) will work behind the scenes, still supporting leading candidates. The result will then tell what role the party could have in a possible Cosentino council. Cascino could however turn his attention, at a later stage, to the possible competition for the provincial championships, which is yet to be defined. The DC exponents decided to sever political ties with the Greco junta and since then they have been in the orbit of the opposition centre-right. Certainly, the Cosentino candidacy has a strong Cuffarian component and it will be the polls that will “weigh” the broad pact with the centre-right.
