Music on the move among the peaks of Trentino

TRENT. A month of concerts in the Trentino Dolomites in places reached on foot by the public and musicians, ranging from world music to classical music, from songwriting to jazz, up to meetings between music and literature. 18 events grouped over a month, from 28 August to 29 September, hosted in the Dolomites of Trentino, a unique natural setting in the world where musical notes and words meet as you walk towards the peaks. At each edition of The Sounds of the Dolomitespeople discover the mountains as a place of wonder and encounter, as an experience to remember and, above all, to live and share from the first moment, walking along the paths side by side with the musicians to reach the valleys, meadows, clearings at high altitude , where the sound of the instruments dialogues with the surrounding landscape and the nature of the mountain, playing with the echoes or chasing a whisper of wind, in a natural theater without borders, open and intimate at the same time.

The 29th edition of the I Suoni delle Dolomiti Festival was presented on the afternoon of Friday 19th at MUSE. The Festival will start in the wake of world music, or rather fado, which will debut at this Festival on Wednesday 28 August in Malga Tassullain the natural amphitheater that encloses the Pian della Nana with the concert of Carminhoone of the most talented fado singers of the latest generations.

Classical music will be on display during the Alba delle Dolomiti, a highly anticipated event which this year will take place in Prà Castròn of Flavona in the Brenta Dolomites. The protagonist of the inevitable greeting at sunrise, always a source of great emotions, this year will be Mozart’s music, in the performance of the Camerata Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam.

The meeting between music and literature will be the underlying theme of the trek, in the rocky heart of the Pale di San Martino, which from 4 to 6 September will build an ideal bridge between the mountains of Trentino and the American Badlands, through the words of the writer Paolo Cognetti and the songs of Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash and other “stars and stripes” myths, interpreted by the voice and guitar of Pietro Brunello and from the cello of Mario Brunello.

Among the special projects worth mentioning is the one scheduled for Friday 13 September, at Villa Welsperg, at the foot of the Pale di San Martino: E lucevan le stelle, dedicated to Giacomo Puccinion the centenary of his death, with the soprano Lana Kos and the tenor Raffaele Abeteassisted by I Solisti di Verona.

One of the programmatic cornerstones of I Suoni delle Dolomiti is accessibility. Four of the concerts of the Festival – 13 September at Villa Welsperg with the homage to Puccini, 17 September at Malga Brenta Bassa with Raphael Gualazzi, September 21st in Località Giasenei with Renaud Garcia-Fons Trioand 25 September at the Fuciade Refuge with Paolo Conte Legacy – will also be made accessible to people with motor and hearing disabilities. This is thanks to the use of inclusive vehicles and bikes and Subpac audio-tactile systems made available by Re-Moove, a Trentino company specialized in inclusive mobility.

Grand finale on Sunday 29 September in Val Duron, near the Rifugio Micheluzzi, with Roberto Vecchioni in acoustic version accompanied by the violinist Lucio Fabbri on the violin and the guitarist Massimo Germini.

Also this year the collaboration between the Festival and the “FA Bonporti” Conservatory of Trento, after the positive experience of 2023 during Paolo Fresu’s trekking and with the Osiris Band. On the occasion of the concerts of the Camerata Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam and the Arod Quartet, some students of the same Conservatory will be able to meet the musicians, discussing instrumental aspects, but also the relationship between music and nature.

All concerts of I Suoni delle Dolomiti are scheduled for 12pm, with the exception of Alba on 8 September, at 6.40am, and the concerts on 19 and 25 September, scheduled for 2pm.
