Last April 19, 2024, in the evocative Conciliation Hall of the Municipality of Assisi, a press conference was held which marked the launch of the final preparations for the grand finale of the “InCanto sulle Vie di Francesco” series of events.
The councilors Veronica Cavallucci, for Culture, and Fabrizio Leggio, for Tourism, highlighted the importance of this event which will involve Umbria, Marche, Tuscany and Lazio in a series of 13 events which involve walking along sections of ancient Franciscan routes stopping off, from time to time, in significant places in each of which a choir offers to listen to some of its performances. There will be two stops in the Marche region, Ancona on 5 May and Osimo on 8 June. Present for Ancona were Father Alvaro Rosatelli and Luca Saracini, respectively president and general director of the Franciscan Charitable Works of Ancona.
The traveling journey of “InCanto sulle Vie di Francesco” – explained Diego Mecenero and Francesco Morelli, creators of the events – will culminate on 23 June 2024 in the Upper Basilica of San Francesco in Assisi with the participation of numerous choirs all together. After having traveled along ancient Franciscan paths and visited cities rich in Franciscan history and culture – from Greccio to Ancona, passing through La Verna and Gubbio – the final event promises to be a moment of high artistic and spiritual connotation.
During the conference it was underlined that this year the event has a particular resonance, fitting into the celebrations of the eighth centenary of crucial events linked to the life of Saint Francis, among which this year the impression of the Stigmata is remembered.
