the story of Swedish footballer Kevin Lidin

Happiness. Happiness. Kevin Lidin he placed it alongside his Instagram handle. The biography summarizes the unusual parable taken to reach it: that of a boy forced by too many injuries to close it prematurely football career, with a parenthesis without leaving a trace in Pisa. And then he begins to travel to find himself.

Lighting in Thailand

AND in Thailand That the former Swedish midfielder of 25 years (who also spent time in Italy with the Primavera of Bologna and Paganese) discovers, in a completely unexpected way, his vocation: that of Buddhist monk. An enlightenment made possible by the month (July 2023) spent in a monastery. His world now revolves around meditation (“she helped me a lot”) and yogadiscovered even earlier thanks to his sister and now taught with an intense passion, even more than what he put into running after a ball dreaming of reaching Serie A.

Only one appearance with Pisa, but topped off by the Serie C victory

He didn’t make it, also thanks to the physical problems in sequence that gave him no respite. With Pisa there is only one appearance, in Serie C: Just 5 minutes against Arzachena in the 2018/19 season, that of promotion to B. In 2021 here is the decision to say enough to that ordeal, due to a problem dating back to childhood. Recalcitrant to the idea of undergoing one or more surgeries, Lidin embarked on a journey of profound internal reflection. «I started to wonder what happiness is and what the purpose of life is».

Meditation in the monastery and the discovery of peace

He understood the importance of “giving to others”. inside the Buddhist monastery, an experience then told on social media (there are over 15 thousand followers). «In complete silence for a week, meditate 6 hours every daywaking up at 4.30am to listen to Buddhist teaching in the dark among the mosquitoes. Sleeping on a bed without a mattress with a wooden pillow. These are the most valuable things I’ve learned: We suffer more in our minds waiting for things than in reality. How much effect meditation has on our lives!

Healthy life, no alcohol, just social media

The former footballer has banned alcohol and unhealthy foods, with an exception for social media (where he publishes photos and videos of his activity, including yoga poses, immersions in nature, baths in tubs full of ice). “They make you feel worse and less motivated.” The purpose, he says, «is seek peace, not pleasure. When we seek pleasure, life becomes boring. When we seek peace it becomes significant.” Besides that, Lidin found happiness again in Thailand. And himself too.
