Towards the new Pgt: in Varese the Municipality and citizens discuss the environment and mobility

VARESE – We’re back to talking about Pgt in Varese and this time too it is the city that is involved. After the well-attended meeting at the end of February with the general presentation of the strategic lines we went into more detail about the new urban planning tool this morning, Saturday 20 April, regarding two specific aspects of the plan: environment and mobility (interviews in the video below).

I am five themes outlined on which the new PGT will be elaborated: five development visions ranging from the environment to an inclusive Varese for living and working. A city of new tourism and a widespread cultural system, passing through a Varese city of sports, sustainable mobility and proximity networks. In today’s meeting the administration and citizens discussed policies for a greener city with different roads. Work tables

Gods then followed work tables, an opportunity for citizens present to formulate proposals and suggestions, with three maxi columns (What is there – What is needed – Proposals) in view of the path that will lead to the adoption of the plan. As regards mobility, Civati ​​illustrated what the guidelines will be. «First of all – he said – the strengthening local public transport, which means a railway service with better and more frequent accessibility, in particular for Como and Milan, with dialogue with the competent bodies such as the Lombardy Region and railway managers. Then a road transport more integrated with railway services and with other mobility services, such as cycle paths and sharing. Improve green paths

As regards the environment «we are already starting from a situation that is very favorable – underlined the councilor San Martino – with the Campo dei Fiori Park, two Plis and the lake, therefore a whole green area that embraces the city».
