an initiative for inclusion and knowledge

The Circolo dei Lettori – Presidio del Libro of Bisceglie, in collaboration with Universo Salute Opera don Uva and the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired ETS-APS – Puglia – Centro Regionale Audiolibro Puglia, will present the project “I give you my voice” on World Book and Copyright Day, the April 23rd at 6pm.

The Regional Audiobook Center is a free service offered by the Puglia Region, through the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired ETS -APS – Regional Council of Puglia, to the blind, visually impaired and all citizens residing in the regional territory with difficulties independent reading. The Center deals with the recording, production and distribution of audiobooks created by professional speakers and voluntary voice donors.

The conference will be held in conference room of the administration of Universo Salute Opera don Uva and will see the participation of the organizers and all those interested in knowing the project in detail. Among the guests present will be Dr. Mariagiovanna Amoroso, president of the Bisceglie Readers’ Club, Dr. Marcello Paduanelli, AAGG director of Universo Salute, Dr. Francesco Giangualano, president of UICI Bt, the President of UICI PUGLIA Paolo Lacorte, and Professor Rosa Leuci, artistic director of the Circolo dei Lettori. Furthermore, invited authorities will intervene, including the Guarantor for people with disabilities of the Puglia region, Antonio Giampietro.

The “I give you my voice” project represents a unique opportunity to bring together people of different generations and backgrounds through listening and sharing their voices. The choice of World Book and Copyright Day, April 23rd, fits perfectly into an initiative aimed at promoting inclusion and access to reading for all. The event enjoys the patronage of the UNESCO Club of Bisceglie, represented by president Pina Catino.

The project finds its headquarters in the Isolachenoncè Opera don Uva Library, entrusted to the Readers’ Club by Universo Salute since 2019, becoming a Presidium of Voice Donors for the Bt province. It is hoped that more and more people, including students, teachers, operators and readers, come closer to the gift of voice, thus contributing to sowing knowledge and promoting the common good and well-being of all.
