CASERTA – No more wars and yes to dialogue between peoples, à la Da Vinci

09:17:46 The “Torch of Peace” Relay has arrived at the Da Vinci – Lorenzini of Caserta. Call for “Ceasefire”. Earth Day remembered.

A cry and a unanimous Hymn of Peace from the voices of the little ones, to give voice to all the children of the world who are victims of wars and to ask for the incessant “Cease Fire”. The primary students of the 4th A, 4th B and 4th C classes of the “Da Vinci – Lorenzini” Comprehensive Institute directed by the Principal Fabiola Del Deo were involved. The students performed songs and significant poems about Peace accompanied by videos and choreographies.

A parent among those present recalled an old saying that “when it snows in April something bad is about to end.” May heaven put an end to this war that is tearing the entire planet apart and wish for Peace between Russia and Ukraine, between Israel and the Gaza Strip in Palestine, where a humanitarian catastrophe is underway and where in 6 months of war, according to as Save the Children reports, 26 thousand children have been killed, just over 2% of the child population, this war is not only destroying Gaza, but also the fundamental principles of child protection. Since October 7, hospitals, homes, infrastructure, universities and places of culture have been destroyed in Gaza. It is the total devastation of a people. This is unacceptable!

“We cannot pretend nothing has happened, it is our humanity”, recalled the President of the Peace Movement Agnese Ginocchio, present with her board member Rosa Arbolino, at the moment of lighting the Torch which he delivered to the school principal Fabiola Del Deo, who, thanking the Peace Movement for this important initiative, praised the commitment of the teachers and students for having organized an important day whose central theme was “PEACE for all peoples.” “The words of Peace are Love, dialogue, hope, brotherhood, forgiveness, and this is the path we must pursue every day” she highlighted.

“As a school we will do our part in the educational work.” The parents of the students were present and participated with great interest in the day. A message also addressed to them from the President of the Peace Movement: “Be educators and promoters of Peace, working in synergy with the school, because Peace, a universal value and Mother value, is the only path that saves the future , which is represented precisely by these children. Peace brings stability, economy, work. You children become bearers of Peace by asking those responsible to do their part to ensure a possible future for you.

Guided by the torch that the head teacher then handed over to a student representing the school, a mini procession took place in the school courtyard. Despite the drop in temperature and a strong wind, it was a great day which culminated with the planting of the Tree of Peace, symbol of the mobilization, which the Torch of Peace delivered to the school as the most precious gift to be cherished and cultivated every day with actions, “because the Trees remind us of the defense and care we must have towards our Mother Earth, they give us the essential element for living which is oxygen, unlike wars which instead poison the air bringing only destruction and devastation to the ecosystem. The school principal Fabiola Del Deo recited the dedication shown on the plaque: “In memory of all the fallen and innocent victims of wars, massacres, attacks, terrorism, crime, violence and mafias, in Caserta and in the world, since 100 years to date”. “For Peace between Russia and Ukraine, between Israel and Palestine, Peace for all countries affected by wars”.

“Cease Fire” .“In memory of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Don Lorenzo Milani “I Care”, of the 80th anniversary of the bombing of Italy, of the massacres and of the 80th of the 4 days of Naples ” with a final dedication to “Don Peppe Diana” on the 30th anniversary of the killing and on the recurring World Earth Day. The teachers who worked with the pupils of the classes involved, 4th class: Stefania Ardolino, Alba Benadduce, Rosaria di Gennaro, di Paola Maria Grazia; Class 4B: of Duke Annamaria, Relative Loredana, Marchione Rosa, Mauro Vincenza; Class 4C Scirocco Giuseppina, Parente Tiziana and Calvino Gabriella. At the end, the “Open School for Peace” Certificate of Thanks was handed over and the “Cease Fire” Appeal was signed.
