We receive and publish from the PD municipal councilor Alessandro Masi

“In the last city council meeting, the mayor of Siena responded to the question of the PD council group and Anna Ferretti of the Progetto Siena group on the municipal table for the Biotechnopole announced by the administration. In the response it emerged that the announced new statute of the Biotechnopole for now it is only an informal, non-disclosed draft, which still needs the legal procedures to become a definitive statute. Therefore, no positive news after the cut of 135 million euros announced by the MEF for these two projects. Thus the situation remains uncertain and absolutely unsatisfactory: no new statute, no regulation or operational plan, no calls for tenders to hire staff, no choices on logistical and real estate aspects, nor concrete start of research activities. And not even an institutional front of the Municipality with the Province and the Region to confront the Government and ask for certainties. Nothing at all, in short. So, in the reply we recommended to the Mayor not to accompany measures or attempts to reduce the projects already foreseen by the programmatic laws over 20 months ago; nor to resign ourselves to the marginality of the Municipality which does not exist, given that Siena is an established life sciences district and is ready to welcome these important projects and the public research center they entail. At this point we need timing and strong determination, not to let things go, but instead to get these two projects started, which will contribute to raising the national international level of our district and its related activities and to guarantee with our two universities a future in Siena as a place of science, research and production of life sciences”.
