Olbia. The John Paul II Hospital was also included this year in the network of facilities “Sticker Rose” for women’s health, having joined the (H) Open Week initiative. The event created by Onda Foundation aims to promote information, prevention and treatment for women. Various activities are scheduled until April 22nd in Olbia as part of the National Women’s Health Day, organized by ASL Gallura with the collaboration of some operational units of the hospital. After the first appointment held in recent weeks in the Neurology SSD with patients suffering from multiple sclerosis, it was the turn of the specialists of the Gynecology, of theOncology And of Endocrinology who carried out free visits, exams and theoretical-practical activities.

On the two days of 18 and 19 April, the healthcare workers of the Gynecology and Obstetrics Complex Structure were available for free visits and ultrasounds. There are three prevention services organized by the Internal Medicine Operational Unit. The endocrinologist specialist carried out visits to assess dyslipidemia, one of the main risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. The services carried out on Thursday 18 April were followed on 19 April by a focus on the treatment of osteoporosis in menopausal women, and will close on April 22nd, when free visits and ultrasounds for thyroid and parathyroid diseases will be carried out.

There Prevention breast cancer was the objective of the initiative promoted by the Medical Oncology Operational Unit which organized a theoretical-practical training course on self-examination, combined with breast examinations. The initiative took place on Friday 19 April and involved various healthcare personnel who presented a course on self-examination subsequently carrying out breast examinations on all the women who joined the initiative. Doctor Schintu Giovanna Maria underlined the importance of prevention and checks to be carried out periodically, and recalled the important reopening of the clinic in the oncology department which carries out breast examinations every Monday from 8.30am to 12.30pm following the presentation of a medical request for a more careful analysis, followed by the process to outline any investigations and/or treatment paths treatment. “It is important to signal the reopening of a service that protects health and allows you to follow a circuit of prevention open to all”– underlines Dr. Schintu.
