Colleferro, 19 April 2024 – Last evening, the carabinieri of the Colleferro station, as part of the preventive services set up in the area to ensure safe road circulation, they arrested a 34-year-old foreignerresident in Colleferro, as he is seriously suspected of the crime of resisting and injuring a public official.

Shortly after 10pm, the vehicle driven by the 34-year-old with a 40-year-old compatriot and a 34-year-old on board, of Paliano, took Corso Garibaldi at high speed, finishing the race first against a wall and then against the pedestrian barriers of the covered car park.

A passing Carabinieri patrol witnessed the scene and rushed to the scene to provide assistance. The man driving, after having opened the door to exit the passenger compartment, having noticed the arrival of a policeman, first reversed sharply, then he set off again at high speed, despite a punctured tyre, regardless of the fact that in the meantime the soldier had clung to the door, ordering him to stop. After being dragged for a few meters, the soldier stopped the action and, without losing heart, continued chasing the fleeing vehicle with his company car.

After a few kilometres, the 34-year-old chased by the police, he lost control again and crashed into the curb of the roundabout in via Carpinetana, height of Valle Settedue locality. The three subjects, who in both cases were not injured, got out of the vehicle and tried to escape on foot again, but were tracked down and blocked by the Carabinieri.

Conducted in the barracks, by checks carried out jointly with the Carabinieri of the NORM Radiomobile Division it emerged that the 34-year-old had a blood alcohol level three times higher than that allowed by the Highway Code. For this reason he was arrested and taken to Velletri prison. He will have to answer for charges of resisting and injuring a public official, as well as driving under the influence.

Road traffic controls by the Colleferro Carabinieri will continue in the next few days and will be intensified, especially at weekends, in the so-called nightlife area frequented by hundreds of young people from neighboring municipalities.

For the record, and for the protection of those under investigation, we remind you that an accusation is not equivalent to a conviction, that the evidence is gathered in court and that the Italian judicial system still provides for three levels of judgment
