Viterbo – “I cannot express myself until a tombstone is placed on this whole affair”. Umberto di Fusco is one of the majority councilors of Viterbo 2020. The affair involves the mayor Chiara Frontini and her husband Fabio Cavini for whom prosecutors Massimiliano Siddi and Chiara Capezzuto have requested immediate judgment on charges of threat to a political body.

A story that arose after a dinner at the home of councilor Marco Bruzziches, on 26 September last year, during which Cavini allegedly said: “If I want to hurt, I understand who in your family status is weaker and then I go to hit that person”. And added: “Unfortunately I am his black soul and that is why I am very hated, because sometimes I have to do very bad things.”

“I can’t distinguish the political aspect from the judicial one – explains Fusco -. Because I don’t know the documents. The only political analysis could only be done if this whole affair had led to problems of an administrative nature. That is, the council and the administration had not worked for this problem. But this did not happen.

Viterbo 2020 city councilor Umberto Di Fusco

Is the request for immediate judgment for Chiara Frontini and Fabio Cavini creating any problems within the majority? The accusation is very serious.
“The accusation was already standing. It’s not that the request for immediate judgment changes anything. We have not seen any documents, other than the statements made in the chamber by the mayor.”

The prosecutors who ask for immediate judgment for the mayor and her husband because the evidence is evident. Doesn’t this generate any reflection or political consideration on the part of the majority councillors?
“Be careful, the prosecutors believe they should ask for immediate judgment, not to postpone it.”

What does it mean?
“The request for immediate trial is already usually noted in the heading when the suspect is interrogated. After that I cannot answer for others, but for myself. Only the final sentence tells the truth, not the prosecutor’s accusation.”

I repeat, here are the mayor and her husband for whom the prosecutors are asking for immediate judgment for threatening a political body. Wouldn’t it be appropriate for Frontini to resign?
“Frontini said in the city council that he had done nothing. So I don’t feel able to say anything, because I’m missing the full picture. And only the prosecutors have this.”

And he can’t even make a political evaluation?
“My political evaluation is strictly connected to the judicial one. Therefore a political opinion can only be given if the judicial aspect is clear. Otherwise we are only speaking hypothetically. And I can’t express myself until a tombstone is placed on this whole affair.”

So, to express a political opinion do we need a tombstone on the whole affair?
“Yes, for me yes. We need a tombstone. Because I can’t distinguish the political aspect from the judicial one. Because I don’t know the documents. The only political analysis could only be done if this whole affair had led to problems of an administrative nature. That is, the council and the administration had not worked for this problem. But this did not happen”.

Viterbo – Chiara Frontini and Fabio Cavini

Two questions that the director of Tusciaweb, Carlo Galeotti, asked majority councilors and councilors with his latest editorial.

The first: With everything that is happening and emerging day by day, how can you continue to contribute to this disastrous political catastrophe, perhaps by staying silent?
“The moment you ask me this question, a judgment is already being expressed. So I can’t answer.”

The second question: What are your political/moral standards, don’t you have any doubts about the actions of the Frontini junta?
“To have any doubt there would have to be an impact on daily activity. Which I don’t see.”
