19/04/2024 – From tomorrow, Saturday 20 April, the De Sabbata railway overpass will be accessible again in its 4 lanes while on Monday the pre-work traffic system (which affected the underpass) will be restored in via Cardinale G. Massaia and surrounding areas; area where a new bicycle depot has been built.

The underpass will be reopened to pedestrian traffic And made accessible by overcoming architectural barriers (maximum ramp slope 8%) from Saturday 20 April.

De Sabbata railway overpass

A strategic infrastructure for the city, the De Sabbata Overpass, the subject of the renovation works, is once again fully usable, with the 4-lane roadway. Extraordinary maintenance which give back to motorists a fundamental artery for the connection between the center and the districts of Pantano and Villa San Martino in particular and, in general, for the road network that connects points of interest in Pesaro (railway station, court, hospital, etc.) separated by the railway line.

A complex intervention, with a total cost of €3,000,000 of resources financed through the Pnrr contribution, and aimed at replacing the safety barriers on the edge of the bridge, renovating the lateral curbs of the barriers, the expansion joints and the rainwater collection and removal system on the deck and ramps; of new LED lighting. Asphalting was also carried out.

The work is a viaduct made up of 11 reinforced concrete spans, 10 spans with a net span of 16.30m and the overpass span of the railway line with a net span of 23.50m, for a total length of 205.00m. The deck has a total width of 12.80m and hosts 4 lanes (2 in each direction).

For the maintenance operations carried out above the railway overpass it was necessary to interface with the Italian Railway Network. Together with RFI, days and times were identified to work safely, disconnecting the railway’s overhead power line.

The following people carried out the intervention: the contractor company Costruzioni Brandi Egidio Srl of Pesaro; the contractor Costruzioni Nasoni Srl of Fano; the one who carried out the lighting Zolfanelli Impianti Srl of Pesaro.

Responsible for the procedure of the Municipality of Pesaro, the engineer Ugo Baiocchi; manager of the Maintenance and Traffic service, architect Eros Giraldi.

Underpass

The works on the pedestrian railway underpass of the Cappuccini and surrounding areas are part of the “Sprint” project for the urban redevelopment of the city. The cost of the surgery is €884,000 (of which €806,000 of contribution from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of the call for urban redevelopment and safety of the suburbs – Prime Ministerial Decree 05/25/2016″, resources from the FSC 2014-2020 and €78,000 of funding from the municipal administration).

Objective of the intervention: to give new life and value to a widely used infrastructure, enhancing the reconnection effects between the areas north and south of the railway line. The intervention resolves the problems relating to architectural barriers, enhancing the usability of the underpass, with slopes and structured treatments at different heights of the adjacent areas, to increase the sense of safety through greater brightness and visibility of the places. With the intervention, Marche Multiservizi renewed the existing gas network.

The pedestrian underpass today has a width of 3 m and a length of 102.76 m (ramps 82.26 m, tunnel 20.50 m), the slope of the ramps is 8%.

Bicycle storage

The area is also enriched with a new bicycle storage facility serving the urban mobility hub, and part of the “Sprint” project for the urban redevelopment of the city.

The cost of the surgery is 140,000€ (€80,000 of regional funding and €60,000 of Municipality resources.

The new building is intended for bicycle storage. The structure will be complementary to the intermodal hub which will be created with the recovery works of the adjacent historic building purchased by the State Railways, the former locomotive shed, with the function of an intermodal hub for urban mobility which includes uses such as: storage, rental, bar /refreshment and services for bicycles and cyclists.

The structure measures 14.50 m by 4.70 m (height 3.10m), for a covered surface area of ​​70.5m2 of which 41m2 are used as a closed storage area for bicycles and 29.50m2 as a shed. The overall capacity is 32 bike spaces which will be placed on two-level racks; There are 4 stations for charging e-bikes. The opening of the deposit will be automatic with an electronic card and usable 24 hours a day.

The project was carried out by the contractor RI.CE. Costruzioni Generali Srl of Giugliano in Campania (NA), the subcontracting of the steel structures is from Service AGM Srl of Calvello (PZ). The equipment is supplied by MP Outdoor Furniture Srl of Bolzano (BZ). Sole responsible for the procedure of the Municipality of Pesaro, the architect Silvia Sedani; manager of the New Works service, architect Maurizio Severini.
