REGGIO CALABRIA The metropolitan mayor of Reggio Calabria, Giuseppe Falcomatà, participated in the inauguration of the XI edition of the Palmi National Festival of Law and Literature, opening the works which saw the singer-songwriter Claudio Baglioni, the writer Michele Caccamo and the judge Antonio Salvati discuss the topic “But what music is law? Creation and interpretation between rules and law”. «The title of the initiative intrigued me a little – said Falcomatà – and when I saw that it was coordinated by Doctor Salvati, I understood what the synthesis was that combined, in some way, law and literature. This is an initiative that does not only speak to professionals, but combines important cultural aspects that reminded me of the words of another of our great fellow citizens and countrymen, Francesco Cilea, when he said that ‘art reveals to the hearts what no science reveals lies. I think it’s a phrase that fits very well with this event.” In greeting and thanking Baglionithe metropolitan mayor also spared a thought for Michele Caccamo who “honors his land without asking for anything in return”.

Baglioni: «Seeing the Calabrian sea put me in a good mood»

«I’m here to talk about words – said Claudio Baglioni interviewed by Tgr Calabria –, words of songs, the so-called lyrics, which can sometimes be separated out, removed from their musical matrix and read separately». In his repertoire Baglioni also dealt with denied rights. «For the most part yes, there are traces of this and there are also many questions and some rare answers because the topics are difficult, because compared to a song that is made up of everyday traits, the song about rights, about sociality, about adventure and the misadventures of living a life in common, is more delicate because you risk being banal and predictable.” «The words sung – Baglioni said – I don’t think they change the world but they could help improve it». Baglioni also spoke about his arrival in Calabria. «I was on a train on the sea – he explained –, I had never taken this train journey, I had never seen this great toy that is the sea, so wonderfully bathing the beach, the coasts, and on the other side the mountain that rises raised, and without many words it put a good mood inside me. So it was a nice journey, I hope it will also be a nice return.”
