Tense moments outside the Barbera stadium in Palermo where the rosanero are taking to the pitch with the Parma team.

Around 200 hooded fans threw bottles at the police between via Croce Rossa and via del Carabiniere.

A car was set on fire. There is a large deployment of police forces who are trying to thwart the fans. According to what was reported by some fans present in the area where street vendors usually station themselves in Piazza Alcide De Gasperi, a group of supporters started running towards one of the turnstiles to try to come into contact with the visiting fans.

Scuffles also inside the stadium

The clashes between the fans then continued inside the stadium in Viale del Fante where there was a frequent throwing of smoke bombs and paper bombs. Furthermore, a group of Palermo fans stole a banner from the visiting fans and threw it inside the Curva Sud.

Bad relations between fans

There is bad blood between the Palermo and Parma fans. The former are twinned with Padova, the latter with Catania. A few days ago, Padova and Catania faced each other in the Italian Cup final. During the first leg at the Euganeo stadium in the Venetian capital there were clashes during half-time of the match. Some organized supporters took center stage and even stole a banner and were involved in riots which delayed the start of the second half. This gesture also cost the return match in Catania behind closed doors. The investigations by the police and Digos led to several arrests, arrests and reports among the most violent fringe of the organized Etna fans.
