ROVIGO – “I’m interested in jobs, not in board positions”. It is with these words that the mayoral candidate Valeria Cittadin enters into the topic of As2 which has seen the expiring services put to tender due to the impossibility of entrusting them in house by the Municipality of Rovigo commissioner (READ ARTICLE). “I care about the present and future of the company’s employees, trained, professional people who deserve to be able to live their working and family lives with the appropriate serenity. Every decision must be made with them in mind first.”
The topic is that of assignments to As2. The last administration fueled a conflict between the Municipality and its subsidiary. “No war on workers should be waged, on the contrary, our first objective must be to safeguard not only jobs but also their quality, which depends on the orders, and therefore on the assignments of the company’s member bodies”, declares Valeria Cittadin .
The trade unions, CGIL, CISL and UIL have explained, on a regulatory level, what are the references that govern ‘in house’ assignments by comparing them with those that govern sub-threshold assignments and have reiterated that the company is in house.
“I agree with the position of the unions when they say – says Valeria Cittadin – that you cannot compare types of assignments that are not on the same level because they are completely different in nature”.
After the resignation of the former mayor, the Municipality is administered by the prefectural commissioner, who also took over the As2 file, in particular the assignment of services related to speed cameras.
“It would be appropriate for every decision that affects such an important public company – says Valeria Cittadin – to be taken by the next municipal administration, there is little time left until the elections, a new mayor will be in office by June who will be able to address the issue”.
