MODICA – An emotional ceremony where inclusion was truly at the center of the meeting. The awards ceremony for the “Draw inclusion. On December 3rd we all win”, a competition between Sicilian schools on the topic of disability. The contest, organized by the Sicilian Rehabilitation Consortium (Csr), with the patronage of the regional departments of Education and Social Policies, was launched on 3 December 2023, on the occasion of the International Day of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, with a campaign awareness campaign aimed at lower secondary school students participating in the initiative. As many as 82 Sicilian schools and around 20 thousand students were involved.

The “Raffaele Poidomani” comprehensive institute placed third and climbed onto the podium together with 2 schools from the province of Syracuse. The 3 winning schools were chosen through a vote on Facebook, which recorded almost 170,000 views, plus 800 preferences expressed by boys and girls with disabilities who attend the 19 CSR rehabilitation centres.

The work of the Modican school, created by 2 second year students, Ludovica Linguanti and Francesca Puma, with the title “We are all rays of the same sun”, received a symbolic check from the president of the institution Sergio Lo Trovato with a voucher that can be spent on the purchase of educational material from the Borgione catalog worth one thousand euros.
