Carpi, Aimag and Hera, the contradictions of Action by Morelli – Il Punto

For years Lapressa.it has offered free and independent information to its readers without any type of public contribution. Private advertising covers part of the costs, but it is not sufficient. For this reason we ask those who read us and follow us every day to give us, if they wish, a contribution based on their possibilities. Even a small support, multiplied by the tens of thousands of people from Modena and Emilia-Romagna who read us every day, is fundamental.

If there is one aspect of these elections that really makes you think, it is the nerve – politically speaking – of Azione Modena. In fact, in recent days Calenda’s party has been basing its entire electoral and media campaign on two key points, which ultimately boil down to one: Simone Morelli.

On the one hand we have the almost ostentatious presentation of the former deputy mayor of Carpi, who may or may not be a candidate for the municipal or regional elections, but in the meantime he is the city secretary of Action. Ready for an alliance with the PD, despite all the negative past with the party, which expelled him from the party. And despite the personal battles with the mayor Alberto Bellelli, who faced him in court until a few months ago, in a trial for attempted aggravated defamation.

On the other hand there are the appointments in Hera/Aimag, judged improvident by Azione, between Carpi and Mirandola.

The two points can be reduced to one because if Aimag is in this situation of chronic weakness it is above all due to the appointments made in the past by Morelli. Who in the years of his maximum splendor, when he governed the city – his words never denied – kicked out of Aimag the last of the presidents competent in the matter, Mirco Arletti, and appointed Monica Borghi, a figure who with all due respect certainly did not have a curriculum vitae of president of a utility. Under whose presidency Aimag wavered between fluctuating strategies of unification within Hera and external expansion – how can we not forget the period of the “Great Aimag”? To arrive at a stalemate and the consequent crisis that led to the de facto commissionership of Aimag by Hera and Confindustria, with the complacency of all those mayors – Diacci di Novi in the lead – who had instead gathered electoral consensus among the citizens by boasting differences with the PD.

Or who, like Bellelli, had apparently received and understood the message of the citizens of the 2017 referendum. Which, despite the low turnout and the presumption of the PD leaders, still had considerable political effects. And blocked climbs, at the time, taken for granted.

Nonetheless, the Modena Action commissioner Paolo Zanca every day casts asides on Aimag, Hera and various appointments. The objective is obvious: to try to put pressure on the PD to postpone the appointments and participate in them as best as possible. System which could have effects on politically weaker candidates such as Riccardo Righi di Carpi – who despite everything had to sign the acceptance of the candidacy of the party controlled locally by Morelli and who will have to grant seats to that party – and which could have effects on Massimo Mezzetti , more than weak indifferent. But that will hardly stop Giancarlo Muzzarelli, who is certainly not made of the same cloth as his successors. Nor Hera.
