The Polesine Rovigo Canoe Group took part in the national speed canoe races reserved for the boys, junior and senior categories at the Idroscalo in Milan

The Polesine delegation saw six athletes in the starting blocks: three for the men’s category and three for the women’s category who all participated in a single boat over the distances of 500 and 200m. As expected, there was a huge participation of athletes from all over Italy which in the boys category alone, in which our delegation took part, saw 120 males and 70 females registered with a very high level of preparation. On the 500m distance in the K1 specialty, satisfaction for Sofia Bergo and Anna Munerato who, after having well passed the first qualifying phase, reached the finish line of the semi-final where they placed themselves in fifth and eighth position respectively, a result which however did not allow them to access to the final reserved for the top two classified in each semi-final. Petra Biasoli also competed in the same category but, for the moment, she has not managed to pass the first qualifying phase. Always on the same distance, in the men’s category we find Nicola Mancini, Diego Trambaiolo and Jacopo Gazzieri who all competed giving their all, but they all stopped at the first qualifying phase. In the men’s 200m races, all the athletes from Polesine did not pass the qualifying races, although this time it was a real shame for Nicola Mancini who missed out on qualifying for the semi-final by just one hundredth of a second, finishing in third place. his effort. In the women’s field, Sofia Bergo did very well and reconfirmed her qualification for the semi-final where, however, she had to surrender to her opponents. In the same distance, neither Anna Munerato nor Petra Biasioli manage to pass the qualification.
Overall, the trip was certainly positive for the kids who had the opportunity to deal with the reality of Italian canoeing which, to all intents and purposes, is now top-notch at an international level.
