School buildings: over 25 million for the improvement of Treviso high schools | Today Treviso | News

TREVISO – New constructions, making buildings safe with specific seismic adaptation works, reducing environmental impact and consumption, through timely energy efficiency interventions and structural redevelopment: the Province of Treviso takes stock together with the Municipality of Treviso on the numerous construction sites which, in the last two years, have allowed us to improve the high school buildings in the city, allowing students, managers, teachers and school collaborators to benefit from adequate and optimized spaces for teaching. Works for which the Province has invested 16,889,618 euros, thanks to PNRR resources (13,749,377 euros), the institution’s own resources (1,843,803 euros) and FOI funds (1,296,437 euros): an intervention plan that exceeds 25 million euros invested if the recovery works of the former post office building are also added, which will allow the headquarters of the Art High School to be expanded, and the Covid-19 funds used for the redevelopment of the Besta Institute and the construction of the headquarters in the Ghirada area in 2020. A general improvement program necessary for the safety and renovation of a historic school real estate asset, designed to also respond to the evolution, over time, of the needs of the new generations of students and Treviso families.

Treviso Art High School and redevelopment of the former post office building – In the historic center of the city, extraordinary maintenance and energy efficiency works are currently underway in the central headquarters of the Liceo Artistico, in via Santa Caterina 10, entrusted to the CEV company of Treviso: the works, with a total value of 1,800,000 euros, they concern the restoration of the fixtures, the replacement of windows and doors that have deteriorated over time and also the replacement of all the shutters in the school. At the same time, the works will allow the reconstruction of all the toilets and the replacement of the covering of the stairwell connecting to the secretariat and management. New anti-shatter false ceilings will be installed and a new exit will be created in the courtyard, on Via S. Caterina. Finally, the facades of the building facing the internal courtyard will be completely repainted. The process for the redevelopment of the historic former post office building is also progressing: last year, on 17 April, the Province and the Municipality symbolically celebrated the transfer of ownership of the building with the State Property Office. After the approval of the technical and economic feasibility study of the intervention, worth 6 million euros, the Province has taken a further step forward by completing the definitive design to date, which includes: conservative restoration of the external facades, consolidation structural and seismic improvement of the building, maintenance of valuable internal elements, functional and energy improvement of the building with adaptation to hygiene, health and fire prevention regulations, maintenance of accesses from Via C. Alberto and, the main one, from Via S.ta Caterina through the portico, connection with the current headquarters of the Art School via a covered passage created from the spaces of the ancient convent cells; all this will allow the creation of 14 teaching rooms measuring between 49 m2 and 107 m2.

Liceo Canova, new branch in Ca’ del Galletto – After the awarding of the works to the group of companies formed by Bottoli Costruzioni and SIEL Impianti of Sustinente di Mantua, the date of the foundation stone laying ceremony on the new construction site will soon be communicated: the total value of the new school is 9,900,000 euros, of which 7,664,377 from PNRR, 1,469,185 own funds of the Province of Treviso and 766,437 from FOI resources. The new Canova headquarters will have three floors, one of which is underground from which a gym develops, and will have an A4 energy class (NZEB): energy consumption will be practically eliminated, unlike the current building which is in energy class G. Furthermore, thanks to the rationalization of routes and spaces, a reduction in the covered surface area and, therefore, in land consumption will be achieved. To guarantee the school community adequate spaces for teaching, while the construction works of the new branch are underway, the Province has provided for the redevelopment of the S. Anna Oratory, for a total value of 170,000 euros: to celebrate the start of the new school year, in September 2023 the Province and Municipality celebrated together with students in the Parish premises.

School gyms: work has begun on the redevelopment of the gyms of the Liceo Da Vinci and the Riccati-Luzzatti Institute. Special attention is also paid to sporting activities: seismic adaptation work has begun in the city, making the systems of both school gyms safe and efficient: the Province has invested 1,423,886 for the Da Vinci, of which 1,100. 000 euros from PNRR, 23,886 from own resources and 300,000 euros from FOI funds; for the Riccati-Luzzatti gym, 1,950,000 euros were invested, of which 1,800,000 from PNRR and 150,000 from the Province’s own resources. Duca degli Abruzzi High School. The fire prevention adaptation work and the renovation of the external shelter connecting the school and gym have been completed: an intervention worth 1,080,000 euros, of which 800,000 from PNRR, 200,000 from the Province’s own funds and 80,000 from FOI funds. The works made it possible to adapt the building with new electrical, alarm and accident prevention systems (new fire-resistant windows, false ceilings, creation of new safety areas, external safety stairs).

Palladio Institute –The extraordinary maintenance work on the roof of the Palladio Institute and the gym changing rooms was also completed, as was the renovation of the hot and cold water line of the changing rooms themselves. The works, worth 585,000 euros, were financed entirely by PNRR. The roof was waterproofed and insulated with special materials, while the optimization of the hydraulic system consisted of the installation of new stainless steel pipes and some modifications to the heating plant, necessary to install a new electronic mixer.

Besta Institute – Roof maintenance work, sanitary redevelopment of bathrooms and internal and external building finishes completed for over 1,150,000 euros, financed within the Covid-19 emergency funds of the headquarters in the historic center. The intervention allowed the installation of new sanitary fixtures in accordance with the law, with the integration of further services for people with reduced mobility, the renovation of the heating system and the electrical system, the creation of a new false ceiling, the restoration of wooden shutters, the treatment of walls with specific anti-mold procedures, the waterproofing of the roof. Also for Besta, in 2020 the Province had also built the new school headquarters in the Ghirada area in record time (two months!) to deal with the pandemic and the urgency of new spaces to guarantee distancing.

“It is a great satisfaction to have managed to invest over 112 million euros for the renovation of the high school real estate assets of the Province in recent years, bringing interventions worth 25 million to the heart of our territory, the capital city – the words of the president of the Province of Treviso – the completed works, as well as those in progress, allow the over 15,000 students of Treviso to benefit from cutting-edge and environmentally friendly educational and sports spaces”.

“Applause and thanks to the president, the Province and all the staff of the Construction sector for having been able to plan and bring home an intervention plan of this caliber – underlines Mayor Conte – it is a victory for politics but above all for the community , which will be able to benefit from more efficient school structures and new gyms, also technologically adapted to the new standards, thus responding promptly to the requests of Treviso residents, families and young people, who live their daily lives in these very places”
