Friday 19 April 2024 – 12.25pm

The woman chased by her partner with a billhook with a blade of around 35 centimeters was saved by taking refuge in the car of a passer-by: it happened in the Pistoiese area, and the man believed to be responsible for the episode was caught by the police after a short chase and arrested arrested for resisting a public official and private violence, as well as reported for kidnapping, family mistreatment, aggravated personal injury, damage and possession of objects capable of offending.

When the police arrived at the place where the couple’s argument had been reported on the public street, they immediately noticed the woman in a passerby’s car and the 56-year-old man getting into the van to try to escape.

According to an initial reconstruction, she initially got into the vehicle driven by her partner and was then attacked and threatened by him with a billhook. Reason: jealousy. The woman managed to get out by taking refuge in a passerby’s car.[gallery(0)]

The episode ended with the arrest and reporting of the 56-year-old, the woman taken to the emergency room of the San Jacopo hospital in Pistoia and judged to be recoverable in 7 days, the citizen who had welcomed her into his car at the police station to report the damage to the vehicle and the private violence suffered, given that the man would have hit the car and prevented the escape before the arrival of the police officers.

Subsequent investigations revealed that the 56-year-old was no stranger to episodes of mistreatment in the family. Not only that: the billhook was seized, but investigations into the databases revealed that at home he also had three rifles, a revolver, two compressed air pistols and ammunition. The weapons have all been withdrawn.
