Former owner of Siena wants Favl

Emiliano Montanari, former owner of Siena and current owner of Victor San Marino, would be interested in purchasing Favl Viterbo. The entrepreneur, directly and through his collaborators, has in fact already been testing the waters for some time to also acquire the yellow-blue company, contacting its managers.

But who is Emiliano Montanari? An engineer and entrepreneur – just like the former patron of the Viterbese 1908 Sports Union Marco Arturo Romano -, owner of the Global Service group, a company active in the IT and telecommunications sector. In June 2022 he purchased Siena in Serie C, a club which however disappeared last summer due to debts which resulted in its failure to register in the Lega Pro (today the Bianconeri won the Eccellenza championship as Siena Football Club, ed.).

Montanari, investigated last July by the Siena Prosecutor’s Office for alleged false compensation relating to training courses, has engaged in a bitter legal battle with the Tuscan municipality for control of the Artemio Franchi stadium, which like the Rocchi has been closed for a year. In November 2022 Montanari also purchased Legnano with his clubs, a Serie D club which is currently experiencing many difficulties, which Montanari himself recently sold, and in February 2024 Victor San Marino, newly promoted to Serie D and recently slipping out of the play-off zone.

Just a few days ago Chiara Squaglia, correspondent for the satirical news show Striscia la Notizia, defined Montanari as the “scourge of football” in a report dedicated to the engineer and broadcast on Canale 5. At the moment it is not Favl Viterbo’s intentions to sell the club bearer of the Viterbo fans, but it is not excluded that Montanari and his ambassadors could return to office in the next few days, reiterating an interest probably also linked to the competition for the future management of the Enrico Rocchi stadium.
